I do like Castiel, but I'll never understand this gigantic difference in how fandom at large reacts to him versus the reactions I see to Ruby. You'd think they're the most clear-cut good vs. evil characters, while I think both show a lot of ambiguity throughout their respective seasons. But well, like you said, there's a corner for everyone.
