Finally getting around to watching the pilot for Stargate: Atlantis, and you know what? I take back everything I have ever said about this show. It is AWESOME. I still feel like Carson (?) should be older, or something, but I loved Rodney from the very moment he huffed and sulked his way on screen. Especially since, for some odd reason, he reminds me of Perry Van Shrike from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Maybe it's his expressions. Or the way he talks, all high and fast and pissed off. Or you know what, maybe it's Harry Lockhart that's tickling my memory reserves.

...But whatever. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.

it started off really great, I'll admit that. but, for me, it quickly became quite crappy. people left who shouldn't have left and story-lines got ridiculous and often repeated (still, it wasn't as bad as when the original stargate began to go off with king arthur and merlin. I'm still very "bwah?" about that).

but yeah. the first season is one to look back and remember fondly.

I suppose that's kind of what happens with all science fiction - generally, when worldbuilding comes in, things get weird. (But, hey! Apparently, season 2 has Ronon. That's good, right?)

I stopped at the end of the outrageous ridiculousness that was season 4 - it becomes more and more apparent that writing and production for the show are run by hacks... but Teyla and Ronon are fabulous and played by great actors, who are far better than the writing for their characters!

SGA! *loves*

It has its flaws, but I can confidently say that even the most recent episode was fantastic, so . . . sometimes you have to be willing to go through some less-than-stellar arcs to get to the true greats. :D

*is very not pointedly looking at Heroes, or House, or any of the other shows she watches*

I know. I mean, I'm willing to stick it through imperialism and crappy storylines and Weir, for God's sake, just for the guy in your icon. And Joe Flannigan's deadpan delivery, of course.

Wraith: When I get out, you will be the first I will feed upon.
Sheppard: Okie-dokie. I'm going to go make myself a sandwich.

If it continues to be this good, I may never stop singing praises.
