vanitashazeLooking for a fic series about parenting and family with enough queerness, trans & nonbinary characters, disability, mental health issues, and kinky polyamory to choke a horse? Look no further! The Alabanza-verse is a Voltron: Legendary Defender S4 canon AU (because I started writing it back in early 2017) future-fic series about all those things and more. The Alabanza series centers around Keith, Lance, and their kids. The How the Dead Live series centers around Matt, Shiro, and Allura; it takes place in the Alabanza-verse, but can be read as a standalone series on its own. Current WIP fic is Atlas, involving Matt's adventures in trying to heal from two truly terrible decades through tabletop roleplay games, kink, a pet lizard named Cat, and hopefully some goddamn therapy.
ALABANZA SERIES

Keith and Lance's first time doesn't go like either one of them planned. That's definitely a good thing.
ALABANZA | 23k | Lance/Keith
A lot changes in Lance's life over ten months. Or, Keith and Lance make a baby and learn how to talk to each other, in that order.
MOTHER TONGUE | 13k | Lance/Keith
"The trouble begins at breakfast, which means that it's barely past six in the morning when the nonsense starts to go down, because it turns out that both Galra kits and whatever the hell Xio is have circadian rhythms exactingly tuned to ensuring that their parents never get any sleep at all." Keith and Lance's family grows by one. Parenting is hard, siblings are harder, and sometimes love isn't enough.
BREAKING LIGHT | 8k | Lance/Keith, Shiro/Allura
"Maze stays silent for a moment and then asks in a rush: "Hunk also said that most human males don't gestate infants, unless they're like you. Are you a higher rank than everyone else? Did you get breeding privileges because you're a paladin? Why didn't Shiro get breeding privileges? Is it because he's defective?" After Shiro and Allura announce their baby plans, Lance and his daughter have the birds and the bees talk. And the gender talk. And the disability talk. And then the birds and the bees talk again.
IF I HAD A HAMMER | 22k | Lance/Keith, Shiro/Allura
"It's taken a lot of time, tears, and blood, but Princess Allura of the Altean Empire and the Paladins of Voltron are starting to be names that garner respect throughout the galaxy, as opposed to the old standard responses of fear, bitterness, aching messianic hope, and Lance's personal favorite, where have you been all this time and what do you mean, you're it, we thought you were coming to save us. You can't eat respect, though, and you definitely can't patch up your leaking HVAC pipes with it, so sooner or later, the Castle has to touch down to resupply and make repairs."
Things take a turn for the worse, and Lance confronts what it means to be a parent in wartime.

Along the way to becoming a person again, Matt acquires a Cat, a crop, a Plan, two long distance relationships, a taste for the local tabletop roleplay game, and reluctantly, friends.

"This should have been gold," Allura murmurs as she fastens the collar around Shiro's throat. "Solid gold, warm to the touch. That's what you would have had, had you been my imperial consort."
Shiro and Allura both want things that they're not supposed to want. Shiro, surprisingly, is the one who's okay with that.
