I'll tell you a secret: my friendslist kind of scares me. It's so big, except that it's not, and unmanageable/confusing, except that - no, okay, it is. So I probably don't check it as often as I should, even when I have relatively unbroken periods of computer usage.
To be even more honest, I'm not sure how exactly to say, "sorry", because I am, but it's that futility again, of being miles away and lifestyles apart and not really being able to do anything anyway except being there if you ever want to vent. I hope the next-state surgeon has some answers for you. When will you know?
(And on a slightly lighter note, I will take a moment to point out that, Macs? Pwn PCs. For they, unlike said PCs and also Mexican pigs, do not get viruses.)

yeah, I get that—I'm usually backed up with respect to getting to my friends' posts, too.
oh, I understand. I wasn't trolling for sympathy, just talking out the frustration a little; I do appreciate your sympathy, though. I'm not going to be able to visit that surgeon for a while. I'm not sure how long: it might be two weeks or two months, depending on how my schedule pans out. I had to cancel the appointment once and haven't yet been able to reschedule, due to all that.
yes, I have considered getting a Mac, since I've been looking toward a new computer for more than a year, but it seems a good number of Windows-compatible programs don't work on Macs. and I'm not even a gamer. sigh.
For the record, I didn't think you were trolling for sympathy; I'm just never know what to say in these situations, and so usually say the first thing that comes to mind, which is an awkward declaration of support and sympathy (but rarely empathy).
The program thing is very annoying - it was one of the reasons I so delighted in having a PC a few years ago - but lately I've found that it's not such a problem, as more and more programmers are either making the updated versions Mac/PC compatible or even creating a Mac version of the program. I mean, unpacking software, music, video, imaging, internet, film, word processing; I've found Mac versions of all of those, and can't really think of any other programs one would really need. (Then again, brainstorming is not my forte.)

that's good to hear! will keep it in mind as I gear up for a new computer.
