The awful thing about it, Shawn discovers a little later, is more or less the exact same thing.
And it's one of those amazing instances where words have been placed together just exactly right, so much so that when I read them my heart nearly stuttered to a stop. It turned out that the rest of the story was just as amazing. I'm so glad I found it, even if I am a bit late, and I don't think it's something I'm going to be forgetting any time soon.
