[meme] Prompt me, and I shall talk to you through the internet.
1. Insta!rec: Hanna Is Not a Boy's Name. Magnificently cute supernatural webcomic with fun characters, great art, an incredibly sweet burgeoning friendship between the title character and the narrator (who is a KIND-HEARTED ZOMBIE, OMG), and storylines that are not only amusing, but intriguing.
2. Bought Richard Siken's Crush. I'll let you all know how awesome it is after my heart starts beating again. (And, yeah. It's that good.)
3. Voice meme! Here's how it works: Comment with as many questions as you want, on pretty much any subject. And I'll answer it in a voice recording! Fun for you, and fun for me, 'cause I get to hear myself talk, which is a SURREAL experience. ♥ And now, answers!

Crazy-strong bromance ftw. To be honest, even if Zombie wasn't a zombie, I'd prefer it that way. It's so nice to find such a loving, sweet, codependent friendship in any source, especially to the degree of happiness and not-fucked-up-ed-ness that Hanna and Zombie have. Like, they love and care about each other, and don't feel that they have to wade through brambles because of it. & they have their secrets, yes, but their relationship seems so easy and ultimately not bothered by them - unlike, say, Holmes and Watson, or Clark and Lex, or any of the other intense bromancers.

I tried to read that fic but I couldn't get past the summary, oh dear. Perhaps the ship in a sexual context is more of a brain-breaker for me than I thought. And yes, a good portion of why I love them so is that they aren't fucked-up--I think one of the main themes of HINABN is "horrible things happen, but don't let it get you down", and their friendship is a prime example of that. By all rights Hanna and Zombie ought to be bitter, angry, miserable people, but they aren't, so they get to be friends in an uncomplicated way rather than an angsty one. Being well-adjusted: it makes your social life much easier!

YES, THIS. And I love that the comic isn't entirely fluffy - like, they deal with some pretty heavy themes, especially in Lee storyline, and the follow-up this past week and a half or so. (Lots of love for how Tessa's dealt with Zombie's death. "Easier to forget than to be forgotten"; the paper cranes; Zombie's mindscape...)

I love Crush a lot.
What a great meme! I'll have to think of some questions for you. :)

Spread the Siken-love! Though I'm wondering if there's a second volume out there somewhere, since my favorite Richard Siken poem ("The Love Song of the Square Root of Minus One") doesn't appear to be in Crush. But it's possible that, since I've only gotten through the first section of poems, I just missed it.
YES. FOR THE GOOD OF ALL.

"The Love Song of the Square Root of Minus One" was published after Crush, but there's no second book yet.
Heeeee, I will!

So there is something for the human race to look forward to.

Hmm, first question: What's your favorite song to sing, if you have one?

Here you go! In which I ramble. A LOT.

OT: I thought you might enjoy this Yuletide Fringe genfic, "The Eyes of the Observer Make the Mystery," which is by a writer you might be familiar with from another fandom, with a surprise twist you might also like! General spoilers through 1x05ish, but I read it before I started watching the show. Olivia-centric, nicely tangible details, clear and lovely voice.

Incidentally: do you know where the link for the "Fade Out" (Castiel, Jimmy, Amelia) vid is? I tried searching for "Melissa vids" but unsurprisingly, I got nowhere. (grumble grumble people using stupid vid handles that ARE NOT TRACEABLE, ARGH). I am very nearly done - or at least, as much as you can ever be done with something that's continually updating - with my vid rec list! And also, I ever needed proof that I am totally BATSHIT INSANE, this will serve nicely. (I believe the current number of vids I have chased down, watched, and rec'd is around 137.)

Wowza! I look forward to reaping the benefits of your vid rec list! :)

Will read.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO ASK.
Aw well, I'll go with the typical questions:
1) How did you get into fandom (I'm always intrigued how different the answers to this question are.)
Oh, got another one!
2) What do you consider the fandom you love most? The one you always go back to (even if it's once a year.))

Okay, this comic has nothing of Supernatural's darkness (at least as far as I've read) and what I'm going to write now is silly.
But you know, the general lack of Zombie's facial expressions. ("I didn't realize I smiled so little. Maybe I'll have to work on that.") and the way he tries to fit in at least somewhat. (Castiel is also somewhat working on his behaviour, picking up the Winchester's bad habits.)
His ability to kick ass and know when something supernatural is around.
The tie.
And well, IT WOULD BE FUNNY! :D Stranger things have happened so if anyone who's gifted with writing silly Supernatural-Aus should ever stumble over this, it would make me very happy. ;)
I think I'll go and read another chapter now. This is going to become my new happy-place, I can feel it!
