The past week has been a) fatigue, and b) finally watching My Hero Academia, and I will just say: I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR (except maybe Bakugou but I’m giving him time to prove me wrong) AND TENYA IIDA DESERVES MUCH MORE LOVE FROM FANDOM THAN HE GETS BECAUSE HE IS THE bEST bOY!!!! CLASS REP!!! EMERGENCY EXIT MAN!!! and I may have to take a short diversion from Atlas to write a MHA fic but Japanese cultural context aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

Caveats: I am not Japanese and was never a high-schooler there, though I have lived and worked there via an internship through my grad school. So I got the insulated experience. I assemble the cultural context from outside, more through media than through primary sources, so my read is not necessarily better than the average weeaboo.

Counter-caveat: I have spoken the language for like 18 years at this point wow, and I use it every day in my day job. I can (and have) written a HELLA ACCURATE videoconference scene.
