Huh. I've never seen Supernatural - as a rule, I don't too horror films; I have way too much of a visual (and active) imagination to be able to stomach them - but that's an interesting comparison. I know authorial intent doesn't count much, but I think whatever happened, whatever he brought along with him, it wasn't with John's consent. He doesn't like it, but he can't do anything about it, though he's noticed that people tend to stay safe when they stay near him. Of course, they'd be a lot safer yet if they didn't associate with him at all.
