I've sat here for five minutes trying to think of something intelligent to say, because a character portrait this insightful and well-constructed deserves more than the usual 'wow'.

My favourite bit was probably this:

"Adam Monroe is an inequality. Adam Monroe is in love with a hero > in love with his lady, like the rhyme the schoolchildren learn: things aren't equal in this world, see, the dragon's mouth opens towards the bigger, the better, the dragon always wants more and what it wants the dragon gets. Adam Monroe < Kensei Takezo but who's to say who's the lesser?"

But it was all so good. I loved the almost River-Tam-esque insanity that you just can't hate him for, even after everything. It's so sad. I mean, I'd be crazy too after living so long, dying so often.

"The first of the Adam!fics." Meaning there's more? I hope so. I really do.
